Find the file on your phone

Find and preserve the downloaded medical-record file on the device.

Make sure you can actually find the downloaded file before continuing.

If you used the browser, look in your phone’s Downloads folder. On iPhone, this is usually in the Files app. On Android, look in Files or Downloads.

If you used the VA app and cannot find the downloaded report: return to the direct VA.gov browser link in Step 3 and download it again through the browser. Do not continue until you can see the actual PDF or TXT file on your device.

Use VA Claims Chat, then submit your final claim

Continue from VA Claims Chat to final VA.gov claim submission.

Use VA Claims Chat to review your records and prepare the final claim packet.

Open VA Claims Chat
Current safety gate: only upload the medical-record file if VA Claims Chat presents an active secure document-upload control. If the page says private document upload is not active, do not paste medical records into the text box. Follow the page’s instructions and stop at that boundary.

Final submission fallback: Until VA Claims Chat has an authorized connection that can submit the claim directly to VA.gov, take the completed claim packet to the official VA.gov 21-526EZ claim form below. Sign in, upload the completed packet/supporting files as directed, review the claim, certify it, and submit it through VA.gov.

Open VA.gov 21-526EZ claim form

If VA Claims Chat later shows an authorized VA.gov submission connection and returns a VA submission confirmation, that connected path may replace this fallback. Until then, VA.gov is the final submission path.

Official VA pages and app wording can change. Never put passwords, one-time codes, Social Security numbers, or medical records into an ordinary public text field.
