Abstract. Admissible Existence studies when a state, entity, system, observer, process, or domain is not merely present, but remains coherently identifiable across transition without destroying the conditions required for its own continuation or the continuation of coupled entities. The theory distinguishes presence, individuation, coherence, transition capacity, viability, plural recoverability, observability, reconstructability, compositional compatibility, authority, purpose, and relational admissibility.

The central thesis is that existence is not merely presence. A coherent existence claim requires a candidate entity to remain sufficiently itself while change continues, and admissible existence adds the condition that the entity not preserve itself through transitions that destroy the wider conditions under which coherent existence remains possible.

Existence becomes formally meaningful when presence persists coherently through admissible transition.

What the paper formalizes

The paper develops a joint state-space treatment of coherent life under bounded interaction, including boundary coherence, physical and authority recoverability, purpose and continuity recoverability, joint relational admissibility, compositional compatibility, and reconstructability.

For entity i, the state is represented as an ordered structure containing internal organization, boundary configuration, resource substrate, retained history, authority configuration, purpose configuration, and admissibility/relational standing. The theory then asks whether transitions preserve the conditions required for coherent continuation rather than merely whether a system remains detectable.

Scope and non-claims

The paper applies its formalism to biological, artificial, institutional, computational, social, and hybrid systems. It does not claim that every persistent system is alive, that every coherent system is conscious, that physical viability proves legitimate authority, that local stability proves global admissibility, or that mathematical analogy constitutes empirical proof.
